How to Install ScreenCoach on Windows PC

To quickly link a Windows device to the family, follow these two steps using either a QR Code or a Pairing Code.

✅ Step 1: Check Windows User Type

ScreenCoach works best when installed from a standard (non-administrator) Windows user account. Windows Administrator accounts will have elevated privileges which may enable the kid to bypass/uninstall ScreenCoach.

To know how to create a new standard Windows user account, scroll down to the bottom of this article.

✅ Step 2: Downloading & Installing ScreenCoach on Windows (For first time installation on a device)

  1. Download ScreenCoach for Windows from: 👉 https://www.myscreencoach.com/download/
  2. Double-click the downloaded .exe file to begin installation.
  3. If Windows displays any warning messages (e.g., “Windows protected your PC” or “Unknown publisher”), click “More info” > “Run anyway” or allow access — it is safe to proceed.
  4. Once installed, launch the ScreenCoach app.

For reinstallation/updating ScreenCoach

  • If ScreenCoach is running, please quit that first by switching to the parent user account > Click on the menu on the top right > Quit
  • To quit from the child user account, you’ll need the device QUIT PIN, but this is not usually recommended unless absolutely necessary.
  • Download the latest version for Windows from 👉 https://www.myscreencoach.com/download/
  • Double-click the downloaded .exe file
  • If Windows displays any warning messages (e.g., “Windows protected your PC” or “Unknown publisher”), click “More info” > “Run anyway” or allow access — it is safe to proceed.

✅ Step 3: Logging in to ScreenCoach on Windows

  1. Open the ScreenCoach app you just installed.
  2. Click on “Account – Sign in.”
  3. For a quicker login, you can use the the QR Code option below the sign-in form and scan it using the Parent device.
  4. **For detailed instructions on how to use QR code to login and link this device to your ScreenCoach family account, check this article : 👉How to link a device to your ScreenCoach account with QR Code

Note: You can also login with your ScreenCoach credentials or you can use Google/Apple credentials (under the same email address you signed up for ScreenCoach with).

Screen Time Tracking & QUIT PIN

  • Once linked/logged in to ScreenCoach on Windows, you will be prompted to Add a Quit PIN (if you are adding the device for the first time) which will be used to QUIT ScreenCoach on this device.
  • If you have already added a QUIT PIN before, you can use the same here.
  • Remember to enable Screen Time Tracking on this device. Open ScreenCoach > Go to Settings COG > Enter Parent PIN > turn on "Allow Screen Time Tracking" (Check screenshot below)

  • To change your QUIT PIN, Open ScreenCoach on your Parent Device > Go to Settings > Device list > Choose this macOS Device > Choose "Change QUIT PIN" and set up a new QUIT PIN of your choice under the same screen.

Next Step, Choose the child user on ScreenCoach who is going to use the device.

The Windows device is now successfully linked to the family and the usage is being tracked by ScreenCoach.
