How to turn off/disable Apple ScreenTime on iOS (ScreenTime conflicts)

Settings and restrictions in Apple ScreenTime will conflict with ScreenCoach and will not let the app work properly.

| So here are the steps to turn Apple ScreenTime off:

Go to Settings (iOS settings) on parent device
Tap on Family
Tap on your child's profile
Go to ScreenTime (See image below)
Make sure no apps are set to Always Allowed
Remove any Downtime settings
Remove any App Limits
Scroll down (the the very bottom) and tap on "Turn off App & Website Activity"

||| NOTE:

Due to a bug in the Apple Screen Time.
If you had any options enabled in steps 5-7 and you have turned off screen time before, then these options are still remembered/active in the background!

So you will need to re-enable Apple screen time then remove disable options 5-7 and then disable Apple Screen Time ( "Turn off App & Website Activity") again.

And then makes the changes, then Turn it off (scroll to the very bottom)

1. Check ScreenCoach App Blocking and Configuration

The feature that deducts time from the daily allowance only works correctly if app blocking is functioning as expected. If app blocking is not working, it may allow a child to access apps without having that time tracked.

To test if blocking is working: Use the "Block Now" feature for the kid from your parent device.

Confirm that all apps on the child’s device are blocked.
Then, unblock and verify the apps are accessible again.
You can also test what happens when ScreenCoach is killed (not running). Apps should automatically be blocked within 2–3 minutes, as long as ScreenCoach has been properly set up on the device.

If apps remain unblocked when ScreenCoach is closed, the issue may lie in app settings, device permissions.

2. Apple Screen Time Conflicts

In iOS devices, conflicts with Apple's built-in Screen Time can sometimes interfere with ScreenCoach's functionality.

Before downloading SC. First step is to make sure the child device is logged in with a child Apple ID. NOTE that some parents give their old iPads to their children and do not set up a new Apple ID, this may allow them to bypass ScreenCoach.

||| If you still want to keep a parent or adult Apple ID logged in to your child's device, you can follow this article to make sure they do not bypass ScreenCoach. We still recommended have a separate, child Apple ID set up for the child.

If your child device is already set up with a Child Apple ID, you can skip Step 1.

| Step 1: Create a child account for the device: (Apple ID)

On your parent device, go to Settings > Tap on your Apple Family on the top and tap on the + icon on the top right
Tap on Create Child Account
Enter the child's full name and date of birth.
It will stay as a child account until the child is 13.
It will ask you to verify yourself as an adult first with your Apple email.
And then you can start to create the Apple ID for the child with email, you may need a phone number to verify this child account later.

It is MUCH better to make sure the device is part of an Apple family before downloading the app.

|| To manage a device with ScreenCoach, you need to link the device to your ScreenCoach account.

Here is how you do it.

Click on “Account – Sign in.”
You will see a screen like this the image below.
For a quicker login, you can use the the QR Code option below the sign-in form and scan it using the Parent device.

Note: You can also login with your ScreenCoach credentials or you can use Google/Apple credentials (under the same email address you signed up for ScreenCoach with).

Open the camera on your Parent Device & Scan the QR Code displayed on the new device.

To quickly link a Windows device to the family, follow these two steps using either a QR Code or a Pairing Code.

ScreenCoach works best when installed from a standard (non-administrator) Windows user account. Windows Administrator accounts will have elevated privileges which may enable the kid to bypass/uninstall ScreenCoach.

On your Mac, if the user is going to be a child user, it is always recommended to have a separate Standard user created for the child, that is a non-administrator account. Administrator accounts/Adult accounts can give them elevated privileges which can help the child to bypass/kill or even uninstall ScreenCoach.
