How to add a new Mode?
You can add a mode and set it to be accessible only during school hours and maybe call it 'School,' likewise a mode called 'Play.'
To add a mode, follow these steps on your (parent) device:
- Launch ScreenCoach on your mobile device.
- Go to "Settings" from the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose "Manage Modes" from the menu that appears on the following screen.
- Click on the '+' icon on the next screen.
- Click on "Add Mode" in the bottom of this screen
- Enter a mode name, say School, and hit "NEXT."
- Assign the users who can access this mode in the next step and hit "NEXT."
- Click on the time buttons to set the "Access Time" for this mode.
- Modify the "Access Time" to fit your needs. For example, you could change the days to Monday through Friday (or however many days your child attends school) and enter 9:00 am to 3:30 pm (or whatever your child's school hours are) for this mode.
- Hit "SAVE.". You will return to the "Modes" screen, and this new mode will be added to the list.
To get the most out of ScreenCoach:
- Add a multiplier to this mode. Click on the mode > Go to "DAILY LIMITS" > Set "Time Multiplier" to be "Free Usage." This way, time used on this mode will not be counted as they are doing school work.
- Create "App Categories" to group apps into categories that you want to either allow or restrict for a mode. For example, restrict apps of the "Entertainment" category in "School" mode. To learn more about that, refer to this FAQ
